How Old Does the Average German Shepherd Live To?

Someone told me the average life span is 9 years old, i wanted to know because i have a German Shepherd, she just turned 9. So does anyone have a German Shepherd that is older than that and if so how old?

9 is young but can happen, 12 is average, 15 is a good life, more then 15 and you have a strong willed and hearted dog that is very well taken care of.

12 years and I know lots of people who have GSD that are 10 and up. As a matter of fact I have a friend who has a GSD that is 14.

The average life span for a German Shepherd is 9 to 12. That doesn’t mean that much tho’. A good diet makes all the difference in the world and something to live for when they’re older. Be careful about two things: 1) The Hips! and, 2) They like to not only get rocks, but ‘chew’ on them as well. Try to stop that right off as a pup, or you may end up with hefty vet bills and/or a dog with a very sore mouth.
    Good Luck!

There’s a few VERY good sites on the web for info on dogs. I don’t know them right off and I’m in a bit of a hurry tonight. It didn’t take me too long to find them tho’, I remember that.
