How Much Would a German Shepherd Puppy Cost?

I’ve been wanting another dog for quite a while, and I was wondering how much a respectable, decently-bred German Shepherd puppy would cost. If anyone knows some good breeders, that would also be much appreciated!

Oh, and to keep people from yelling at me… Yes, I KNOW that you can find wonderful dogs at shelters. I am simply inquiring into different areas, but keeping my options open.
Oh, and any breeders would have to be reasonably close to Atlanta, GA.

we got a german shepherd last month and she costed 1,200$, purebred from a breeder

Do you want a show shepherd….or a working shepherd?? Either way, you’re looking at $500-2500 for puppy.

I think you should expect to pay no less than $800 for a nice puppy. I don’t know any breeders by you but I like Woodside kennels for a beautiful AKC show dog http://www.gsdbydesign.com/Woodside/ I think her puppies go for 800-1000 as pets (no breeding rights) and she is in Canada so add about $250 for shipping.
If you want a good German line or import go to http://www.WorldClassGSD.com for an awesome dog. I got an import puppy and he is awesome!!! (He’s 17months now) Check out thier health gaurentee it’s the best I have ever seen! The prices are not cheap but well worth what you get.
If you are looking in the paper and online make sure that the puppy you buy is from parents with OFA certification on hips and elbows on BOTH parents! Make sure you see the documents, don’t take thier word for it. I would only buy from dogs with good or excellent scores on both tests for both parents and hopefully the OFA goes back a few generations so you can see what the lines are doing with hips and elbows. Go see what the dogs are like and what the conditions are where they are being kept. Ask a million questions….Good luck
